Empowering Outback Artists

The Indigenous Artists Hub Mount Isa program is an initiative developed and delivered by Complete Business Solutions (Australia) in partnership with Outback at Isa and the Mount Isa City Council. Proudly funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) through the First Nations Tourism Mentoring Program (FNTMP) this national initiative is dedicated to supporting and showcasing the talents of Indigenous businesses across the arts, culture and tourism industries.

Operated under a social enterprise model, the program works with each Artist individually to build their skills, capability and capacity from hobby Artist to micro business owners. Through tailored mentoring and business support, the team at Complete Business Solutions have built confidence and motivation within the Artists, empowering them to grow sustainable creative enterprises and connect with broader markets.

Voices of Our Community

Doug Bruce, Kaldadoon Elder

“The Mount Isa Indigenous Artists Program has been a powerful platform for our local artists to share their stories, culture, and creativity with the world. It’s given our people the tools, support, and confidence to grow their businesses while staying connected to Country. Seeing our community’s art and heritage celebrated like this makes me proud to be part of something that strengthens culture and creates real opportunities for future generations.”

Cultural Custodian and Guide, Remote Cultural Services

Hazel Munro, Kaldadoon Elder

“The Mount Isa Indigenous Artists Program has been so important to our local people. We have learnt that we can stay true to our culture, our stories and our art and combine using the ways of old people with new ways to start our own business. Our Kalkadoon people are now excited and motivated to work towards making our own futures”
